Brody Sexual and Gender Diversity Organization (SGDO)

The mission of the Brody School of Medicine Sexual and Gender Diversity Organization (formerly known as Brody’s LGBT/Ally Organization) is to create a safe and open environment that promotes diversity and inclusiveness. The organization strives to educate future physicians and medical professionals on LGBTQIA issues and encourage awareness and achieves their goals through workshops, speakers, regular meetings, and social gatherings.

 

Out in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (oSTEM)

Out in Science, Technology, Engineering, And Mathematics is a professional society that aims to provide resources and increase the visibility of LGBTQ students pursuing STEM-related degrees. Membership to oSTEM offers students the unique opportunity to network, attend national conferences, and socialize with like-minded peers and colleagues. The East Carolina University chapter of oSTEM aims to provide STEM LGBT students and allies with a safe and welcoming environment to explore other fields, connect with other students, and receive unique opportunities and resources.

 

Sexuality and Gender Alliance

The Sexuality and Gender Alliance (SAGA) is a student organization that was founded in 1994. For more than 20 years, this student-led group has been dedicated to promoting diversity awareness and education on campus as well as in the community. SAGA offers weekly meetings that are open to all interested students, faculty, and staff.
